Litany ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") operates the Litany mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle your information when you use our App and related services.

By downloading and using Litany, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.

When you create a Litany account, we collect:

  • Username
  • Date of birth (must be 13 years or older)

1.2Goals, Tasks, and Lists

We collect the content you create, including:

  • Goal titles, descriptions, and completion status
  • Task and list items
  • Deadlines and reminders you set
  • Categories and tags

1.3Social and Interaction Data

We collect information about your interactions on Litany:

  • Posts, comments, and reposts
  • Likes, reactions, and engagement metrics
  • Follow relationships and connection requests
  • Your public profile information

1.4Media Files

When you upload images for your profile or posts, we collect:

  • Image files and metadata
  • Image dimensions and file size

1.5Device and Usage Information

We automatically collect:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token
  • Device type and operating system
  • App version and crash logs
  • Notification delivery and engagement status

1.6App Permissions

Your device may request permission for:

  • Camera: To take new profile pictures and photos for posts
  • Photo Library: To select existing images from your device
  • Notifications: To send goal reminders and social updates
  • Internet & Network: To connect to our servers

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality: Providing and maintaining the App, processing your goals, tasks, and posts
  • Social Features: Enabling follows, connections, comments, likes, and sharing functionality
  • Push Notifications: Sending reminders for goals and notifying you of social interactions
  • Authentication: Verifying your identity and managing your account security
  • Service Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns to improve our App and user experience
  • Support: Responding to your inquiries and technical support requests
  • Legal Compliance: Complying with legal obligations and protecting our rights

3. Third-Party Services

Our App uses third-party services that may collect information about you:

Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase services including:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications
  • Firebase Cloud Storage for image hosting

Our Backend API

Your data is transmitted securely via HTTPS to our servers at litany.world. All communication is encrypted in transit using industry-standard security protocols.

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

  • HTTPS Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS protocol
  • Password Protection: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
  • Token Management: Access tokens expire after 15 minutes; refresh tokens enable secure re-authentication
  • Automatic Logout: Your session is securely cleared when you log out

While we use reasonable security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Please report any security vulnerabilities to us immediately.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information as follows:

Active Account: While your account is active, we retain all your data to provide app functionality.

After Account Deletion: Upon deletion, we remove your personal information within 30 days. You can request complete data deletion by contacting us.

Backup Data: Backups may be retained for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes only.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access

Request a copy of your personal data at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.

Correction

Edit your profile information and account settings directly in the App.

Deletion

Delete your account and associated data by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account.

Opt-Out

Disable push notifications in your device settings or within the App preferences.

7. Children's Privacy

Litany is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

During account registration, you must verify that you are at least 13 years old. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete such data and terminate the account.

Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to Litany should contact us immediately at the email provided below.

8. Social Features and Data Sharing

Litany is a social app designed for accountability through real friendships:

  • Visible to Followers: Your goals, posts, and achievements are visible to users who follow you
  • Mutual Followers Only: You see content from users you follow. Follower relationships must be mutual or requested
  • Profile Information: Your username, profile picture, and follower count are public within the app
  • Engagement Data: Likes, comments, and reposts are visible to other users
  • No Public Profile: We do not have a public/non-friend feed. Access is limited to your social network

9. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or for other reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, if required, by obtaining your consent.

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
